Hexadella pruvoti Topsent, 1896
Estas dos esponjas son casi imposible de diferenciar a simple vista. Las dos son incrustantes, de color amarillo y viven en ambientes umbríos.
Una forma de diferenciarlas es introducirlas en etanol. Hexadella pruvoti se vuelve púrpura oscuro dando un tinte amarillo éste, mientras que Hexadella crypta se vuelve púrpura oscuro y da un tinte púrpura al etanol. (Reveillaud et al. 2012)
